We were recently contacted for mining camp leak detection in WA.
Located in Cue in WA’s north, West Gold were experiencing a water loss of 20,000 litres a day.
Although they were losing a lot of water, the leaks location was not showing up for them. We mobilised as quick as possible to locate the leak and minimalise the water loss on site.
Utilising Allmaps and including valve location, we were able to narrow the leak down to one side of the camp.
We narrowed down the leak via acoustic sound methods, however due to all of the mining camp safety precautions on site, we needed to pinpoint the exact location.
The following day we induced tracer gas and pin pointed the leak to the same location we had the day prior.
The water was being lost down an old mine shaft, meaning that no water was being exposed which made the leak harder to find, hence why we were called in.
Once located, the repairs were made by the team’s plumbers.
